The cease-and-desist letter highlights that inaccuracies in the trailer could expose Kalshi to court sanctions or other penalties. It points out that the receipt shown is dated May 16, 2025, over a year before the events depicted, and the phone screen displays the word “crop,” indicating a screenshot rather than a live transaction.
Trailer Editing Controversy
Kalshi claims it alerted a Netflix editor to these inaccuracies. The editor reportedly acknowledged the receipt's date and the possibility of it being a cropped screenshot. Although agreeing to exclude the receipt from the final documentary, the editor allegedly refused to remove it from the trailer, despite potential legal issues.

Netflix maintains that the documentary footage is genuine. A spokesperson stated that filming occurred during the Winible World Cup Watch Weekend in Las Vegas on July 17, 2026. The spokesperson added that the trader showed a screenshot of his bet placed in May 2025, before any Nevada restrictions were imposed. They clarified that trade specifics are between the individual and the app used.
