Martin Scorsese, stepping out from behind the camera, stars in Lavazza's 'Family Blend,' a branded miniseries directed by his daughter Francesca Scorsese, celebrating 'the magic of coffee' with a five-episode run.

Exploring Family and Creativity

Francesca Scorsese directed the series, also featuring Jason Biggs and Adrien Brody, filmed at locations significant to Martin Scorsese's life. These include New York's Little Italy and the NYU Virtual Production Center in Brooklyn. Lavazza describes the series as exploring 'the deep bond, shared memories and passing of the torch between two artistic visions' with coffee as a central theme.

Carlo Colpo on Coffee's Cultural Role

Lavazza Group's chief marketing officer, Carlo Colpo, commented, 'The Family Blend series shows how coffee acts as a universal bridge, bringing together different stories and creative visions.' The project aligns with Lavazza's platform 'Pleasure Makes Us Human,' portraying coffee as a cultural gesture crossing generations and languages, enhancing creativity and identity.

Creative Collaborations and Production

Romilda De Luca of RDL Worldwide/Publicis Group and Lisa Frechette of Sikelia Productions are credited for 'Family Blend.' Propagate Content produced the series, with Ben Silverman, Howard T. Owens, and Drew Buckley on board. The Maruri Group developed the creative vision, aided by Joey Payne.

Episode Rollout Schedule

The initial episode, 'But First … Coffee,' debuted recently, with new episodes launching monthly through November across social media. Upcoming episodes include 'Elizabeth Street' in August, 'Back to Tisch' in September, 'Where Everybody Knows Your Name' in October, and 'But Last … Coffee' in November, each exploring personal and cultural narratives intertwined with coffee.

Francesca Scorsese's previous work includes directing shorts like 'Crimson Ties,' 'Fish Out of Water,' and an episode of 'Martin Scorsese Presents: The Saints.'
