Jeff Fowler announced the completion of filming for Sonic 4, revealing the first look at Metal Sonic. The Paramount Pictures film, an adaptation of the Sega video game series, is set for a theatrical release on March 19, 2027.

The announcement came through Fowler's social media post on May 15, 2026. He shared a photo of himself with a Metal Sonic puppet, stating, “And that’s a wrap on #SonicMovie4!!! On behalf of this amazing cast/crew, we have filmed the BEST Sonic Movie yet and can’t wait to share.”
Cast and Crew
Ben Schwartz returns as the voice of Sonic, joined by Kristen Bell as Amy Rose, Colleen O’Shaughnessey as Tails, Idris Elba as Knuckles, and Keanu Reeves as Shadow. Jim Carrey reprises his role, with James Marsden and Tika Sumpter completing the live-action cast. Neal H. Moritz, Toby Ascher, and Toru Nakahara are producing.
Franchise Success
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 was released in 2024, featuring Carrey in dual roles as Dr. Robotnik and his grandfather. It grossed over $490 million worldwide. The franchise began in 2020 and also includes the Paramount+ series Knuckles.
An untitled Sonic film is planned for release in late 2028. The franchise's success continues to grow, appealing to both long-time fans and new audiences.
