Elon Musk stands as the primary beneficiary of the anticipated SpaceX IPO, controlling over 6.42 billion shares amid plans for the company to go public.

Musk's Commanding Shareholding

Musk's ownership includes just under 850 million Class A shares with 1 vote each, and nearly 5.6 billion Class B shares with 10 votes each. This total includes a conditional billion shares contingent on a million people residing on Mars under a SpaceX initiative. Despite the sci-fi condition, Musk's control is overwhelming.

Key Stakeholders and Their Shares

Antonio Gracias, a long-time Musk ally and investor, holds over 503.4 million shares. Gracias, CEO of Valor Management, has been deeply involved with Musk's ventures, including Tesla and Solar City.

Luke Nosek, co-founder of Gigafund and a PayPal mafia associate, owns nearly 33 million shares. Nosek played a crucial role in early investments through Founders Fund, which supported SpaceX and other Musk enterprises like The Boring Company and Neuralink.

SpaceX COO Gwynne Shotwell possesses nearly 12.6 million shares. Shotwell, a key figure since 2002, oversees operations and received substantial compensation, including stock, in 2025 worth $85.8 million.

Additional Notable Stakeholders

Bret Johnsen, SpaceX CFO since 2011, holds nearly 9.6 million shares, drawing from his extensive financial experience in the semiconductor industry.

Ira Ehrenpreis and Randy Glein are also prominent investors, holding 809,050 and 277,800 shares, respectively. Ehrenpreis is part of DBL Partners, while Glein is from DFJ Growth.

Valuation and Investor Participation

Rumors suggest the IPO could raise $75 billion, valuing SpaceX at $1.7 trillion. A 1% stake could be worth $17 billion. The company has attracted around $30 billion in private capital from about 400 venture capitalists, according to Pitchbook.

Investor share prices varied significantly: Series A shares were $1 each, Series F went for $7.50, and Series N reached $270.
