Days after the Met Gala, designer Dimitra Petsa celebrated her inaugural appearance with a grand dinner at Selene, a new Mediterranean restaurant in SoHo. The London-based label, known for its 'wet look' pieces, gathered fashion insiders for a night of food and conversation, honoring Petsa’s Greek roots.

First Gala, First Dinner

Petsa expressed excitement at hosting her debut dinner alongside her first Met Gala appearance. “I liked the idea that this was my first Met Gala and this is their first dinner, so it’s all of the firsts,” Petsa said during cocktail hour. The menu featured Mediterranean dishes, celebrating her Greek lineage.

A Night of Fashion and Art

The restaurant's geometric interior served as an ideal setting for showcasing Di Petsa’s designs, previously seen on model Ashley Graham and actress Laura Harrier at the Met Gala. Petsa’s work is also part of the new Costume Art exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. “The Met Gala is always something that you dream of if you work in fashion and if you’re studying design. It’s like the Olympics of fashion,” Petsa noted, describing the event as a perfect alignment of her background in fine art and fashion.

Feasting on Conversation

As guests settled at the banquet, dishes such as homemade bread, pita with hummus, taramasalata, and whipped red pepper dip were served. The appetizers included hamachi and tavraki crudos, tuna tartare, caviar-topped tiropita, grilled octopus, and Greek salad. Petsa emphasized the significance of conversation at such events, saying, “You’re nourishing people, you’re talking to people, you’re actually getting to know them.”

An Evening to Remember

The evening was a success, leaving attendees satisfied and with new connections. The event underscored Petsa’s philosophy of blending fashion with cultural celebration, providing a feast for both the palate and the soul.
