Singapore's RisingJoy, a microdrama distributor, has sealed content licensing agreements with more than 50 platforms across over 30 countries, marking a significant step towards a broader role in original production and co-development.
Microdrama Market Growth
Media Partners Asia projects that the microdrama market outside China will reach $4.2 billion this year. Key partners for RisingJoy include Viu, Kuku TV, and IDN App. The company emphasizes a data-driven selection strategy, ensuring each title demonstrates audience engagement and commercial success.
Expansive Catalog and Success
RisingJoy's catalog features over 400 Chinese-language, 200 English-language, and 50 Korean titles across variety, reality, and comedy genres. Notable Chinese productions, “Summer Rose,” “The Blade of Rouge,” and “Good Girl’s Dark Secret,” have each surpassed 1 billion views, with more than 80 other titles exceeding 100 million views in 2025.
“Curation is at the heart of everything we do,” said Cassandra Yang, CEO and co-founder of RisingJoy. “Each title has been chosen because it works – capturing audiences, driving retention, and delivering real commercial results.”
Upcoming Releases and Co-Development
RisingJoy's 2026 release slate includes “The Doppelganger,” produced by South Korea's Barunson E&A, and “When Fish Swim to the Land,” from China's Netease Antelope. The company is actively co-developing micro intellectual property with studios in China, Korea, Japan, India, and the U.S. They are also collaborating with investor Double Vision on original micro formats.
Expanding Horizons
Beyond licensing deals, RisingJoy is pursuing co-production and production partnerships globally, spanning all content genres. The catalog also features AI anime and content designed for Gen Z audiences, showcasing RisingJoy's commitment to innovation and audience engagement.
