Snow Goose's latest campaign pushes fashion boundaries as Chris Horsley, a renowned volcano specialist, models their new line inside Vanuatu's active Mount Yasur.
Snow Goose's Adventurous Campaign
Under the creative lead of designer Haider Ackermann, Snow Goose, a Canada Goose offshoot, launched the Adrenaline Expedition series for spring-summer 2026. This campaign features three extreme athletes, including Chris Horsley, who tested the brand's latest gear in extreme conditions.
Horsley's adventure took him to the South Pacific's Mount Yasur, a 1,184-foot stratovolcano known for its frequent lava bombs. Horsley, who has years of experience with such environments, remarked on the campaign's unique challenge: “You don’t often find yourself 300 feet inside an active volcano wearing Snow Goose.”
Performance Under Pressure
The Adrenaline Expedition series was designed to prove Snow Goose's gorpcore credentials. Horsley praised the Merge jacket and pants for their functionality, emphasizing the importance of ventilation and unrestricted movement in such extreme settings. “This line had that—good ventilation holes through the underarm and on the pants as well,” he noted.
Haider Ackermann's dual role as creative director for Canada Goose and Tom Ford ensures a blend of aesthetics and functionality. The collection's pieces, including trail pants, lightweight shorts, and tactical windbreakers, are designed to withstand the rigors of an active volcano and are meant to perform in everyday settings as well.
Visual Impact and Collaboration
The visual contrast during the shoot was striking, as Ackermann described: “Watching Chris Horsley descend into the crater in optic white against the black volcanic ash created a tension that felt almost unreal—light against fire, purity against destruction.”
Though Horsley has yet to meet Ackermann in person, he expressed enthusiasm about a potential collaboration on a volcano in the future. “I look forward to meeting him, especially if I’m getting up to some mischief,” Horsley quipped.
Milestone Achievement
Horsley's achievement marks the first fashion campaign shot inside an active volcano. The ash-covered Merge suit he wore is now archived at Canada Goose headquarters. The campaign, capturing the essence of fire and ice, turned out as breathtaking as envisioned. Horsley summed up the experience: “I kind of specialize in dramatic environments, so it was a nice partnership.”
