Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are adapting the Afghan war memoir 'No Way Out: The Searing True Story of Men Under Siege' into a feature film for Netflix, produced by their Archewell Productions.

Background of 'No Way Out'

The memoir, published by Pan Macmillan in 2019, details British Major Adam Jowett’s leadership of Easy Company, a unit assigned to hold the District Centre of Musa Qala in Afghanistan in July 2006. Described by war reporter Martin Bell as 'vivid and brilliantly written,' the book has a 4.6-star rating on Amazon.

Production and Creative Team

Involved in the production are Prince Harry, Meghan Markle, and their scripted content head, Tracy Ryerson. The screenplay will be crafted by Matt Charman, known for his Oscar-nominated work on 'Bridge of Spies.'

Prince Harry's Military Experience

Prince Harry's involvement in the project is informed by his military background, having served two tours in Afghanistan during his time with the British Army.

Archewell's Netflix Partnership

'No Way Out' is part of Archewell's first-look deal with Netflix, following reports of a prior fallout due to unmet content expectations. Their filmography includes 'Cookie Queens,' 'Masaka Kids, A Rhythm Within,' 'Polo,' 'Heart of Invictus,' among others. Upcoming projects include adaptations of Jasmine Guillory's 'The Wedding Date' and Carley Fortune's 'Meet Me at the Lake.'

Deadline initially broke the news of this film adaptation.
