London's fashion elite gathered at the launch of The Zetter Bloomsbury, a new hotel in the heart of the city's creative hub, co-hosted by Vogue's Hamish Bowles. The hotel, featuring 68 boutique rooms within interconnected Georgian townhouses, is The Zetter Hotels' first opening in a decade.
The Event
Located opposite the British Museum, The Zetter Bloomsbury's launch was attended by notable figures such as Kim Cattrall, designer Charles Jeffrey, Conner Ives, Juergen Teller, and Raven Smith. Guests enjoyed the atmosphere of the hotel's courtyard, set against the backdrop of Russell Square's rich artistic and literary history.
Culinary and Musical Delights
Guests explored the venue's lush garden, botanical Orangery, and yoga deck, while DJ Martelo and pianist Friqtao provided the evening's soundtrack. Executive head chef Debjit Dass served a variety of canapes, including rarebit croquettes and beef tartare-topped potato terrine. A suite of desserts such as berry-studded tartlets and Victoria sponge cake was complemented by a diverse cheese table, with cocktails and Champagne flowing freely.
Design and Interiors
Award-winning interior designer James Thurstan Waterworth emphasized the hotel's blend of Georgian architectural sensibility with global antiques and 20th-century British art. The interiors reflect Bloomsbury's creative history, offering a discreet luxury experience focused on design and craftsmanship.
Waterworth curated a collection of objects over four years, featuring 300 bespoke cushions made from antique textiles, rare artifacts, and a library of vintage art catalogues. Original works by Sandra Blow and Rodger Hilton enhance the hotel's eclectic atmosphere.
A New Creative Hub
The Zetter Bloomsbury aims to become a key location for London's creative scene, offering a luxurious yet understated retreat. As Waterworth notes, the hotel is designed for those who value discretion and a personal, richly storied environment.
