Microsoft Edge has introduced a feature that allows its Copilot AI to extract information from all open tabs. Users can inquire about tab contents, compare products, or summarize articles.
New Capabilities for Copilot
Microsoft announced users can select preferred experiences while discontinuing Copilot Mode, which included agentic features like making reservations. These capabilities are now part of the 'Browse with Copilot' tool.
Additional AI Features
Edge is also adding a 'Study and Learn' mode, transforming articles into study sessions or quizzes. An AI tool converts tabs into podcasts, akin to NotebookLM, and an AI writing assistant appears during text input on web pages.
Enhanced User Experience
Copilot can access browsing history for more tailored answers and features 'long-term memory' for personalized responses. A revamped tab page integrates chat, search, and navigation, alongside the AI-driven Journeys feature that categorizes browsing history.
Mobile App Updates
Edge's mobile app update allows screen sharing with Copilot to discuss visible content. Microsoft assures users of clear cues indicating Copilot's active status.
