Rachel Antonoff's Spring 2026 collection blends '70s Hollywood flair with her signature quirky charm, prominently featuring influences from the Catskills' Borscht Belt.
Family Participation
In 2021, Rachel Antonoff first enlisted her family, including musician brother Jack and her father Rick, to pose for her lookbook. This familial involvement continued in 2022 and 2025 with the imaginative “Re-Antonoff” series, where Hollywood icons like Bob Balaban and Susie Essman portrayed her family at their childhood home in New Jersey. For Spring 2026, Antonoff brings this familial format back, enlisting Annie Clark (St. Vincent), Patti Harrison, New Yorker scribe Susan Orlean, musician Al Yankovic, and Paul W. Downs of Hacks to model her new line in a West Coast setting.
Catskills Inspiration
The collection draws from the Borscht Belt, a vacation region in the Catskills known for its Jewish family retreats from the 1920s to 70s, complete with its own Borscht Museum. Antonoff's designs include Catskill-themed toile, showcasing seasonal travelers in whimsical scenarios, while a collage of local menus and attraction brochures decorates a lightweight shirtdress in silk cotton voile.
Playful Patterns
Antonoff's collection features vibrant, quirky patterns with radishes, fruits, cupcakes, and even a knit piña colada. The dense prints are designed with discovery in mind. Antonoff explained, “I always say there are things to discover if you’re stuck on the subway and staring at someone’s outfit. We’re always trying to hide the peas in the mashed potatoes with a print.” The collection also includes a sundress printed with a paint-by-number design for detail enthusiasts, and mod terrycloth dresses ideal for poolside lounging on either coast.
Not Just a Charcuterie Board
Antonoff humorously assures that her collection is more than just a charcuterie board. The Spring 2026 line aims to evoke nostalgia, much like a vintage Northeastern hotel experience, while also making one crave a scoop of ice cream.
