Maïmouna Doucouré, known for her work on the film "Cuties," will direct the biopic, which will explore the life and legacy of Franco-American icon Josephine Baker. Baker was a dancer, singer, actress, and activist whose influence extended across continents.

A television series about Baker, from A24 and starring Janelle Monaé, was announced in 2022 but did not come to fruition. Meanwhile, FKA twigs recently wrote "My Mouth Is Lonely for You," an original song for Anne Hathaway’s film "Mother Mary." She is also slated to appear in "The Lonely Woman," directed by Boy Harsher, alongside Chloë Sevigny, Sturgill Simpson, and Bonnie "Prince" Billy.
