The Emmy nominations have placed HBO Max's 'The Pitt' and 'Hacks' at the forefront, with 'The Pitt' securing 25 nominations, including outstanding drama and 13 acting nods. Star Noah Wyle is nominated for lead actor.
Record-Breaking Comedy Nods
'Hacks' received 24 nominations for its fifth season, breaking the record for most comedy nods. Jean Smart is aiming for her fifth Emmy for the show, which would be her eighth overall. This achievement could tie her as the actress with the most Emmy acting wins in history.
Newcomers and Surprises
First-year sensations 'Widow’s Bay' and 'Pluribus' from Apple TV are also in the spotlight, with 19 and 18 nominations, respectively. Netflix's 'Beef' leads the limited/anthology series category with 16 nods.
Despite expectations, 'Half Man' did not receive significant recognition, with Emily Longeretta expressing disappointment over Jamie Bell's snub. Michael Schneider noted the surprise of 'Widow’s Bay' breaking through late in the awards cycle, attracting viewers with persistent buzz.
Broadcast TV and Reality Competition
Broadcast TV had a tough year, with few nominations outside 'Abbott Elementary'. 'Dancing With the Stars' ended a ten-year nomination drought, though it displaced 'The Amazing Race' from contention.
Mariska Hargitay's Big Year
Mariska Hargitay is set to host the Emmys, marking the first female host in 15 years. Her year also includes a Knicks win, a Broadway show, and her documentary 'My Mom Jayne' earning two Emmy nods. 'SVU' reached 600 episodes this year.
Notably absent from the nominations were Taylor Sheridan's 'Landman' and 'The Madison', despite their star-studded casts. 'The Bear' secured a comedy nod, though Jeremy Allen White was not nominated. Jazz Tangcay celebrated Sally Field's nod for 'Remarkably Bright Creatures', calling her a legend.
