Barbra Streisand will not attend the Cannes Film Festival to receive the Honorary Palme d’Or due to a knee injury.
Streisand's Statement
Streisand expressed her disappointment in a statement, saying, "On the advice of my doctors, as I continue recovering from a knee injury, I am sadly unable to attend the Festival de Cannes this year." She added that she was looking forward to celebrating the films of the 79th edition and spending time with colleagues, as well as visiting France again. Despite her absence, Streisand extended her congratulations to the filmmakers being celebrated this year and thanked the festival for their support and promotion of cinema.

Streisand was scheduled to attend the closing ceremony at the Grand Théâtre Lumière on May 23. However, the festival will continue with the planned tribute to honor her contributions. This event would have marked Streisand's first film appearance at Cannes.
The festival issued a statement acknowledging Streisand's absence: "Unfortunately, the Festival has just been informed that Ms. Barbra Streisand will be unable to attend the ceremony at the Grand Théâtre Lumière in Cannes." They extended their wishes for her swift recovery.
