Raven, RuPaul's Emmy-winning makeup artist and former 'Drag Race' contestant, has been announced as a competitor on the new spinoff series 'Drag Race Down Under vs The World'.
Raven Returns to the Spotlight
The announcement marks Raven's return to the 'Drag Race' stage, having previously competed in season two of 'RuPaul’s Drag Race' in 2010 and season one of 'RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars' in 2012, finishing as runner-up in both.
Raven, whose real name is David Petruschin, joined the 'Drag Race' production team in 2017 during season nine. Since then, she has contributed her makeup expertise through season 18, earning one Emmy and two additional nominations. She also co-hosts the popular YouTube series 'Fashion Photo RuView'.
Cast and Competition
Joining Raven in the 'Drag Race Down Under vs The World' competition are 10 other queens: Art Simone (Down Under), Coco Jumbo (Down Under), Estrella Xtravaganza (España), Flor (Down Under), LaLa Ri (USA), Miss Jade So (Philippines), Michael Marouli (UK), Nikita Iman (Down Under), Nicole Paige Brooks (USA), and Vybe (Down Under).
The spinoff is hosted by Michelle Visage, with judges Rhys Nicholson and 'Drag Race Down Under' season four winner Lazy Susan. The show will premiere on WOW Presents Plus on July 24.
Series Background
'Drag Race Down Under vs The World' is the third in the 'vs The World' series, following the British and Canadian versions. It continues the 'Drag Race Down Under' legacy, which debuted in 2021 and was renamed in 2024 when RuPaul stepped down as host, replaced by Visage.
Visage expressed excitement about her role, stating she had “zero hesitation” in accepting the offer and called it an honor.
Production Details
The new spinoff is produced by WOW in collaboration with Stan in Australia and WOW Presents Plus. Executive producers include Fenton Bailey, Randy Barbato, Tom Campbell, and RuPaul Charles for WOW, and Adrian Swift and Tina Diaz for Stan.
