The eleventh edition of Photo London, the UK's premier photography fair, officially opens today at its new location in Olympia, Kensington, amidst a £1.3 billion redevelopment.
Relocation to Olympia
This move provides the fair with an expanded footprint, enabling it to showcase a wider range of world-class photography while continuing its legacy of exploring the future of the medium. Sophie Parker, the director of Photo London, expressed enthusiasm about the move, highlighting the opportunities it brings for new and returning galleries.
“The move to Olympia creates a unified experience that has sparked incredible enthusiasm from new and returning galleries alike. Each has put an incredible amount of thought and work into creating booths that are truly remarkable.”
Photo London Director, Sophie Parker
Master of Photography: Steven Meisel
This year, the Master of Photography is Steven Meisel, celebrated for his prolific career, including producing 28 Vogue covers in a year. Meisel presents a rare exhibition of his London portraits, capturing the city's 1990s anarchic fashion spirit and featuring icons like Stella Tennant.
Championing Diversity and Innovation
Photo London 2026 is committed to inclusive narratives and under-represented voices:
- Autograph’s We Are the Ones We Have Been Waiting For: Features 17 women and non-binary artists, including Zanele Muholi and Carrie Mae Weems, exploring identity and power through photography.
- New Source Section: Curated by Tristan Lund, showcasing marginalized artists lacking institutional recognition.
- Global Discovery: Highlights strong South Asian representation and first-time participants from India and Africa, such as PHOTOINK and THK Gallery.
- Innovation and Emerging Talent: Introduces a Film Screening room for artist-led films and continues with the Positions section and the Photo London x Nikon Emerging Photographer of the Year Award.
A New Era for Photo London
“We are incredibly proud of the team who have brought together an impressive group of galleries for the launch of this new era at Olympia, including newcomers from as far afield as India and Africa proving London is still a great draw for international galleries.”
