Peacock has officially ordered a live-action series based on Matt Dinnaman’s popular Dungeon Crawler Carl books, developed by Seth MacFarlane's Fuzzy Door and Universal Global Television.
Behind the Scenes
The series is being produced by Fuzzy Door in collaboration with Universal Global Television, following the acquisition of rights by Fuzzy Door and Universal International Studios in 2024. Chris Yost, known for Thor: Ragnarok and Maul: Shadow Lord, is on board as writer and executive producer.
Creative Team and Excitement
Matt Dinnaman shared his excitement on Instagram, announcing Peacock's decision to greenlight the series. "Me, Chris Yost, and Seth MacFarlane and his team at Fuzzy Door are all really excited to get to work," he wrote. Dinnaman and Yost will also lead a Dungeon Crawler Carl panel at Comic-Con in July.
Plot Details
The series centers on an alien invasion that decimates humanity, leaving survivors to fight on a brutal intergalactic game show. The protagonist, Carl, a Coast Guard veteran, partners with Princess Donut the Queen Anne Chonk, his ex-girlfriend’s prize-winning cat, to navigate this dystopian landscape. As they battle monsters, aliens, and an insane AI, the duo's survival is less about staying alive and more about providing entertainment.
Production and Executive Team
Alongside Yost and MacFarlane, Erica Huggins and Rachel Hargreaves-Heald will also serve as executive producers for Fuzzy Door. Matt Dinnaman will take on the role of co-executive producer, ensuring the adaptation remains true to his original work.
