Peacock is set to develop an English-language adaptation of the French-Canadian series Le Clan, retitled as Stoic Ridge, with Robert Munic overseeing the project.
Modern Western Drama
The new series is described as a modern Western centered on themes of loyalty, betrayal, and the struggle to leave the past behind. The plot follows Jacob Morris, a former criminal now living in witness protection as a rancher in New Mexico. His quiet life is disrupted when his father and brother, both former crime bosses, are released from prison, forcing him to protect his new family.
Production and Creative Team
Robert Munic will serve as the showrunner for Stoic Ridge. Other executive producers include Jillian Share, Jen Gorton, Guy Stodel, and Joanne Forgues. The series is being developed by UCP, a division of Universal Studio Group, in collaboration with Teton Ridge Entertainment, owned by TWG Global.
Original Series Accolades
The original series, Le Clan, created by Joanne Arseneau, was produced by Productions Casablanca, Phare-Est Media, and Avenue Productions. It received recognition in several below-the-line categories, earning Gemeaux Award nominations for cinematography, sound, and set design.
Teton Ridge Entertainment's Expanding Portfolio
Teton Ridge Entertainment recently acquired film and TV rights for Stanley Kramer's High Noon and holds rights to the Lonesome Dove franchise and life rights to Western actor John Wayne. Additionally, Teton Ridge's music documentary, Lainey Wilson: Keepin’ Country Cool, premiered on Netflix last month.
Robert Munic, an Emmy and DGA Award-nominated writer, director, and producer, has a notable track record with creations like Powerbook IV: Force on Starz, and A&E’s The Cleaner. His credits also include Gang Related and Empire. Munic is represented by Independent Artist Group, TFC Management, and Myman Greenspan Fox.
Guy Stodel, cofounder of Rosto, has previously worked with Peacock on the comedy Bust Down. Rosto recently concluded a first look deal with 20th Television after an agreement with Blumhouse Television.
