Paramount Animation and CBS are teaming up to create an animated comedy film based on the long-running reality TV show 'Survivor', featuring animal contestants and executive produced by Jeff Probst.
Animal Kingdom Twist
The film will take audiences to a remote, mystical island where animals from across the globe compete to become the sole Survivor. Jeff Probst shared his enthusiasm on Instagram, stating, “I’m so excited to be teaming up with Paramount Animation to bring you Survivor like you’ve never seen it before…in the animal kingdom!” He emphasized that the project will be an all-out comedy with animals vying for the Survivor title.
Probst further explained in a video, “Setting it in the world of animals gives us a whole new playground. It’s still everything we love about ‘Survivor’ — big personalities, funny characters, surprising alliances, competition, chaos — and of course a lot of heart — but this time, the players aren’t human.”
Behind the Scenes
Jennifer Dodge, who became president of Paramount Animation in November, oversees the division. Paramount recently announced another film, “The Naughty List,” a Christmas film from Robert Rodriguez. Dodge, who was previously with Spin Master, the producers of “PAW Patrol,” is responsible for development, production, and global distribution at Paramount Animation. The studio is set to release “PAW Patrol: The Dino Movie” on August 14.
'Survivor' Continues to Thrive
The original 'Survivor' series, hosted by Probst, has been a staple on CBS since its debut in 2000. The show, from Banijay and Amazon MGM, is currently filming in Fiji for its next season, set to air in the fall. Recently, the series concluded its 50th season, which featured a highly viewed finale since 2020. The finale crowned Aubry Bracco from New Hampshire as the Sole Survivor with a $2 million prize.
With the combination of Probst's experience and Paramount’s animation expertise, the 'Survivor' animated movie promises a fresh take on the beloved reality competition, expanding its reach to new audiences.
