Lovable Expands Google Cloud Deal to Increase AI Usage

Lovable, the Stockholm-based startup known for its vibe-coding technology, has entered into a multiyear deal with Google Cloud, aiming to multiply its usage five times, according to a source. This deal marks a significant expansion for Lovable, which has been a long-term user of Google Cloud services.

AI Expansion and Anthropic Integration

The financial specifics of the agreement remain undisclosed, but the source indicates that the deal will significantly boost Lovable's Google Cloud footprint, particularly in AI. The company will gain enhanced access to Anthropic’s Claude, a popular AI model for coding, and Google’s own Gemini models.

This development aligns with Google's massive $10 billion investment in Anthropic made in April, which included cash and compute credits, with a potential additional $30 billion contingent on performance milestones. The investment valued Anthropic at $350 billion, prior to its $65 billion fundraising round that approached a $1 trillion valuation. Lovable's rapid growth could help Anthropic meet its targets.

Lovable's Growth and Revenue

Lovable has emerged as one of Europe's fastest-growing startups, reaching $400 million in annualized revenue by February with just 146 employees. The startup claims to have added $100 million in revenue in a single month and states that over half of Fortune 500 companies utilize its platform in some way.

Google Ecosystem Integration

As part of the agreement, Lovable’s new agent will be featured in Google Cloud's enterprise agent marketplace, the Gemini Enterprise Agent Gallery. This collaboration was initially hinted at during Google’s U.S. cloud conference in April. Additionally, Lovable will integrate with Wiz, Google's largest acquisition at $32 billion, finalized in March. Wiz will enhance Lovable's security by identifying and rectifying code vulnerabilities in real-time.

The integration with Google Cloud's marketplace is expected to streamline enterprise procurement and billing for Lovable, facilitating easier access to enterprise customers.

Google's Strategic Investment

For Google, retaining Lovable and Anthropic as growing entities in its portfolio is crucial. The revenue from such partnerships supports Google's capital expenditure plans, estimated at $180 billion to $190 billion this year. Google is already undertaking an $85 billion equity sale to fund these expenses, leaving a substantial amount yet to be covered.
