Helado Negro and Reyna Tropical have announced a collaborative album titled Helado Tropical, set for release on July 17 via Psychic Hotline. The duo, comprising Roberto Carlos Lange and Fabi Reyna, has also shared a video for the lead single, “Tocando,” directed by Josh Finck.

Origins and Creative Process

The album evolved from a session initially planned to produce a single. Lange explained, “There was never a moment where we felt super stuck. It was just like ‘ok what’s next?’ and even within the songs, trying to create these micro worlds—we just felt excited about each moment…. It’s not about us speaking to each other. It’s about us existing in the same feeling.”

Reyna reflected on the project’s impact: “This particular album really was able to ground me in what movement means to me and just different characters that the range of movement, travel, environment—sun, wind, and water—has the potential to bring out.”

Upcoming Performances

To promote the album, two shows are scheduled in California. Helado Tropical will perform at Los Angeles’ John Anson Ford Theater on August 13 and San Francisco’s Yerba Buena Gardens on August 15. A full tour will be announced at a later date.
