Ferrari Unveils Luce EV with Jony Ive Design

Ferrari has unveiled its first electric vehicle, the Luce, marking a significant milestone for the iconic automaker. Designed in collaboration with Jony Ive and Marc Newson's design firm LoveFrom, the Luce is not only Ferrari's first EV but also its first five-seat, four-door car.

LoveFrom's Design Influence

Jony Ive and Marc Newson were given the reins to define the design direction for both the interior and exterior of the Luce. The partnership with LoveFrom highlights Ferrari's commitment to marrying cutting-edge design with its storied automotive engineering. The car's interiors were previewed earlier this year, showcasing the minimalist yet luxurious style that Ive is known for.

Power and Performance

Tim Stevens, reporting for Engadget, provided some early impressions of the Luce, noting its SUV-like feel. Although he did not test drive the car or operate the interior controls, Stevens emphasized the car's impressive specifications. The Luce is equipped with four motors delivering a total of 1,035 horsepower, promising exceptional performance.

Pricing and Availability

The Ferrari Luce is set to be the most expensive model in the brand's lineup, starting at €550,000 in Italy. While a US price hasn't been announced yet, the Luce is expected to command a premium price due to its high-performance capabilities and exclusive design.

One of the standout features mentioned by Stevens is the car's sound system, which enhances and amplifies the vibrations from the rear motors, offering a more authentic auditory experience compared to the fully synthesized sounds typical of many electric vehicles.

Future of Ferrari

The introduction of the Luce marks a pivotal shift for Ferrari as it ventures into the electric vehicle market, retaining its signature performance and luxury. By partnering with renowned designers like Jony Ive and Marc Newson, Ferrari demonstrates its dedication to evolving while honoring its legacy.
