Artist Edra Soto, inspired by Bad Bunny's latest album cover, has created a series of plastic lawn chairs that are now part of an exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago.
From Puerto Rico to Global Influence
Edra Soto, who grew up in Puerto Rico, uses elements from her childhood in her art to reflect life on the island. Her upholstered plastic lawn chairs are a nod to Puerto Rican culture, featuring designs with Bad Bunny’s face and style transformations.
Bad Bunny's Impact
Soto has closely followed Bad Bunny's career, admiring his dedication to Puerto Rico. Inspired by the cover art of Bad Bunny's 2025 Grammy-winning album DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS, which depicted two plastic lawn chairs, Soto decided to bring her creative vision to life.
BB Chairs in Chicago
The “BB chairs” are covered in affordable fabric showcasing Bad Bunny’s different style eras, from buzz cuts to oversized sunglasses. They are showcased in the “Dancing the Revolution: From Dancehall to Reggaetón” exhibition, running until September 20 at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. The exhibition celebrates the influence of dancehall and reggaetón on global culture.
Limited Edition Set
Due to the unavailability of the original fabric, Soto's chairs have become a limited edition. “I’m not able to re-create them the way they are,” Soto explained, appreciating the aesthetic of the inexpensive material. After the exhibition's debut in April, Soto expressed her pride on Instagram, celebrating the important cultural history being showcased.
