Duval Timothy and Carlos Niño have announced their collaborative album Rain Music, set for release on May 22 through their respective labels, Carrying Colour and CNF. The album features contributions from notable artists such as Navy Blue, Laraaji, and Nate Mercereau.
Collaborative Beginnings
The project began in Duval Timothy's south London studio, where Timothy's prepared piano and Niño's percussion laid the foundation. The production continued remotely from their homes in London and California. Carlos Niño then expanded the lineup by adding double bassist Michael Alvidrez, saxophonist Darius Jones, and woodwind player Aaron Shaw.
Recent Works and Collaborations
This new album follows Timothy's 2025 release, Wishful Thinking, and his score for Akinola Davies Jr.'s film My Father's Shadow. Carlos Niño, known for his international percussion work, recently collaborated on an LP with Saul Williams and released Bubble Bath for Giants with Carlos Niño & Friends.
