Chris Sanders, the co-creator of 'Lilo & Stitch' and voice of the character Stitch, will direct Disney's upcoming live-action sequel to the franchise.
Record-Breaking Predecessor
Last year's live-action remake of 'Lilo & Stitch' set a new Memorial Day weekend box office record, becoming Hollywood's first billion-dollar movie in 2025. Disney confirmed the sequel on June 26 last year, a nod to Stitch's government name, Experiment 626. Jonathan Eirich will produce the sequel.
Sanders' Storied Career
Sanders, nominated for an Academy Award, is renowned for his roles as director, writer, animator, and voice actor. His credits include co-directing animated hits such as 2002’s 'Lilo & Stitch,' 'How to Train Your Dragon,' and 'The Croods.' Most recently, he directed DreamWorks' Oscar-nominated film 'The Wild Robot.'
Longstanding Disney Ties
Sanders has been with Disney since 1987, initially working in the visual development department. Before 'Lilo & Stitch,' Sanders contributed as a writer and story artist to classics like 'The Lion King' and 'Mulan.'
