The Avalanches have released their first single in six years, titled 'Together'. The track features Nikki Nair, Jessy Lanza, and the 18-year-old Jackson, Missouri-based artist Prentiss. An animated video directed by Jonathan Zawada accompanies the release, showcasing an anthropomorphic iPod and floppy disk.

New Album Teasers

Despite no formal announcement, the Avalanches have been hinting at a new studio album, their fourth, since last fall. The Australian group posted an Instagram story featuring a stack of hard drives with the caption 'LP #4'. Additionally, they launched a website for a fictional company called Takumi, featuring a mascot in the form of a purple cartoon cat with a witch hat.

“At Takumi, we understand that digital archives are more than data repositories - they are institutional memory, intellectual property, and cultural heritage,” states the Takumi website.

Previous Works and Collaborations

The Avalanches' last album, We Will Always Love You, was released in 2020. It featured collaborations with artists like Blood Orange, Karen O, MGMT, Vashti Bunyan, and Rivers Cuomo. Since then, they have reissued their Y2K classic Since I Left You for its 20th anniversary, shared an MF Doom remix, and collaborated with Jamie xx and the late Cola Boyy.

Legacy and Influence

Considered one of the best albums of the 2000s, Since I Left You holds the No. 10 spot in Pitchfork's Top 200 Albums of the 2000s. The Avalanches' innovative approach to music and visuals continues to influence the industry.
