Sky Greenlights Second Season of 'Prisoner'

Prisoner, led by Izuka Hoyle, returns for a second season on Sky, confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter.

Season Renewal Details

Scottish actress Izuka Hoyle will reprise her role as Amber Todd, a prison transport officer. Production is slated to begin later this year. The six-part series, created by Matt Charman, gained traction following its April 30 debut.

Plot and Cast

The show follows Amber as she escorts Tibor, a high-value inmate portrayed by Tahar Rahim, to court. The convoy is ambushed, leaving them handcuffed together and on the run. Hoyle previously discussed the dynamic between Amber and Tibor, highlighting the transformation from a cat-and-mouse chase to a psychological drama.

Season Two Developments

The upcoming season will see Amber back in uniform and tasked with escorting a controversial U.S. academic turned killer. Facing an attempted execution and framed for murder, Amber's world is further complicated.

Production Team and Distribution

Produced by Binocular with Sky Studios, the series involves showrunner Matt Charman and writer Sophie Petzal. Executive producers include Matt Charman, Foz Allan, Sophie Petzal, and Adrian Sturges. Sky will air the series in the U.K. and Ireland, with NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution managing international sales.
