Sharon Stone has publicly disclosed an assault that took place years ago, revealed during a podcast interview, where a medical examination confirmed the severity of the attack.
Podcast Revelation
In a recent episode of The Person Who Believed in Me podcast with CBS correspondent David Begnaud, Sharon Stone shared a harrowing experience from her past. The revelation came amid a broader discussion about her life, including a cancer scare that affected her marriage to Phil Bronstein.
Stone recounted, “I don’t know how much I can tell about this. I was hit from behind. I didn’t really know until 10 years later what had happened to me because I woke up. I was unconscious on the floor. The two couches were sideways. The coffee table was all over the place. It was sort of upside down. Everything that had been on the coffee table was all over the floor and I didn’t know how I got there.”
Medical Discovery
The actress explained that she only discovered the full extent of the incident a decade later during a medical examination. “I went to a clinic because I was having a lot of problems with the back of my neck and my shoulders were so sore and I went to a neck and spine clinic in Marina Del Rey,” Stone said. She detailed how X-rays revealed fractured and scarred ribs. The doctor informed her, ‘Your thoracic rib cage is all fractured and scarred back together. It’s clear that you were attacked and that what happened to you was a felony.’”
Decision Against Legal Action
When Begnaud inquired about the identity of the assailant, Stone chose not to disclose a name, stating, “I am not going to say publicly, but I am going to say that we did report and we did do everything.” Despite having the opportunity to press charges, Stone decided against it due to the time elapsed and her public status. She mentioned having enough evidence to make a case but did not pursue it to avoid it becoming her legacy. When asked if it was a case of domestic violence, Stone responded, “I’m not at liberty to say.”
Broader Context
This revelation was part of a broader conversation covering her career milestones, including the success of Basic Instinct, her recovery from a brain hemorrhage, and her experiences with her abusive father. The podcast provides a comprehensive look at Stone’s complex life and career.
