Kelvin Evans has pleaded guilty to charges related to the theft of hard drives containing unreleased Beyoncé music, accepting a plea deal that reduces his potential prison sentence by four years.
Theft Details Emerge
Evans was arrested last year in Atlanta after allegedly breaking into the rental car of Beyoncé's choreographer Christopher Grant and dancer Diandre Blue. He stole two suitcases containing “water marked music, some un-released music, footage plans for the show and past and future set lists,” according to the police report.
Plea Deal and Sentencing
Fox 5 Atlanta reported that Evans pleaded guilty to entering an automobile and criminal trespass. He faces a two-year imprisonment followed by three years of probation. Originally, Evans risked a six-year prison term if convicted without the plea deal.
Stolen Items
In addition to the hard drives, Evans took two MacBook laptops, which authorities successfully located. However, the suitcases themselves remain missing. Evans was arrested in September with bail set at $20,000. Beyoncé's representative has not commented on the matter.
Impact on Beyoncé's Tour
The theft occurred during Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter tour in Atlanta. The tour concluded in Las Vegas three months later. Cowboy Carter earned Beyoncé her first album of the year Grammy in 2025, heightening anticipation for her next project. It's unclear if the stolen music was intended for an upcoming album or tied to previous works.
