Madrid-based ISII Group is set to premiere its ambitious film 'Trinidad' at Cannes, featuring Karla Sofía Gascón in a key role. Joining her are Paz Vega, Gabriela Andrada, and Sofía Allepuz.
ISII Group's Cinematic Ambition
Founded in 2024, ISII Group is led by CEO Silvia Carvalho and comprises four production companies, including Inefable Productions behind 'Trinidad'. The film is written and directed by Laura Alvea and José Ortuño, and will premiere in Spain on November 13 through ISII’s distribution arm, Deep Com Roots.
Cannes Debut and Broader Slate
ISII Group aims to make a significant impact at Cannes with 'Trinidad', described by Carvalho as “designed as an event” with a “long-view commercial plan.” Besides 'Trinidad', the company brings a diverse slate to Cannes, including Arima León’s debut feature 'Love on a Tightrope' and Chema de la Peña's 'Summer Days'.
Karla Sofía Gascón on Her Role
Gascón, in her first major role since 'Emilia Pérez', plays the widow Bronson, a villain she compares to a “female Darth Vader.” She expressed excitement at working with an ensemble cast and praised the talent of her co-stars and directors.
Shooting in Spain's Wild West
'Trinidad' was filmed in the Canary Islands, a popular location for Westerns, echoing the landscapes of the American West. Gascón noted the seamless transformation of these locations into the film’s setting.
Gascón also touched on the film’s timely themes of racism, misogyny, and immigration, highlighting its relevance today. Despite past controversies, she remains focused on exploring complex characters that contrast her personal reality.
Looking ahead, ISII Group plans further projects, including comedies and flamenco films, reinforcing its commitment to innovative cinema. 'Trinidad' stands as their flagship venture, representing a broader vision for both creative and industrial growth.
