Paris-based Films du Losange has acquired the international sales rights for 'El Dorado,' a psychological thriller directed by French filmmaker Lola Quivoron. The film stars Matthias Schoenaerts, Mallory Wanecque, Antonia Buresi, and Samuel Kircher.

Quivoron's Second Feature

'El Dorado' is Quivoron's second feature, following her successful debut with 'Rodeo,' which premiered at Cannes in 2022 and won the Coup de Coeur award. The film was shot in the scenic Luberon region and recently wrapped production.

Complex Characters and Themes

The film is described as a fast-paced thriller that interweaves family drama with environmental crime. The plot centers on Yolaine, a young woman who becomes hearing-impaired after a childhood accident. She is caught between her mother's isolated farm and her father Jean's dangerous world of illegal land-filling, known as 'déballes.' As Yolaine delves deeper, she uncovers deceit and manipulation, leading to a critical turning point.

'El Dorado' is an expansive thriller driven by emotional tension and ambiguity, anchored by the shifting father-daughter relationship at its core," said Quivoron. Jean is portrayed as a charismatic yet violent man whose hunger for social recognition leads to his downfall.

Production and Distribution

The film is produced by Charles Gillibert for CG Cinema, with other projects like 'Minotaur' and 'Shana' also featured at this year's Cannes Film Festival. Co-produced by Wrong Men, with financing from France 2 Cinéma and Canal+, the film's French distribution will be managed by Ad Vitam.
