The folk horror comic series “Black Diamond” is set for a film adaptation, courtesy of Fangoria Studios and Panick Studios, and will be helmed by director Ernest Dickerson.
Directorial Vision
Ernest Dickerson, known for his work on “The Walking Dead” and films like “Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight”, will direct and executive produce the film. Brendan Columbus, the original creator of the comic series, is on board to write the script.
Plot Details
The film, likened to “The Wicker Man” and Hitchcock, follows Owen and Victoria Welch on a family ski trip that turns into a nightmare when their son is abducted by a mysterious cult. The couple faces a harrowing choice: sacrifice another child or lose their own forever.
Creators Speak
Columbus expressed his excitement: “‘Black Diamond’ was my attempt to put everything I love about thrillers on the page. With Ernest's cinematic eye, this film will grip audiences.”
Production Teams
Producing for Fangoria Studios are Tara Ansley, Abhi Goel, and Armen Aghaeian, while Columbus, Adam Schlagman, and Kris Longo produce for Panick Studios. Rose Geddes joins as an executive producer alongside Dickerson.
Dickerson’s recent directorial work includes episodes of “Bosch: Legacy,” “The Irrational,” and “DMZ”. His cinematography career highlights collaborations with Spike Lee on “Do the Right Thing” and “Mo’ Better Blues”.
Studio Lineups
Upcoming releases from Fangoria include “Goodbye, Monster” and “Sitora,” currently in production. “Black Diamond” marks Panick's first feature film venture.
