Taylor Swift made a headline-grabbing appearance at the Toy Story 5 premiere in Los Angeles on Tuesday, delighting attendees with a surprise performance.
Swift's Original Song
Swift has contributed an original song, "I Knew It, I Knew You," to the film's soundtrack. Co-written and produced with Jack Antonoff, the song was released on June 5, ahead of the movie's official release on June 19, and quickly broke streaming records.
Premiere Night Highlights
The Grammy winner, not initially on the press release guest list, arrived at the premiere in a floral-patterned dress. The event took place on Hollywood Boulevard in front of the Dolby Theatre, where Swift joined the cast and filmmakers for photos, including snapshots with life-size versions of the film's beloved characters.
Surprise Performance
Following the screening, Swift took to the stage to perform "I Knew It, I Knew You". She later welcomed Randy Newman to join her for a rendition of his classic "You've Got a Friend in Me."
Swift's Reflections
Swift shared her thoughts on the project via Instagram, expressing how writing the song was both a new challenge and a nostalgic journey. She credited writer-director Andrew Stanton and Newman for their contributions to the Toy Story musical legacy.
"Creating something for Jessie was a new challenge and also felt like second nature," Swift wrote. She also expressed her appreciation for the series, having been a fan since childhood.
In her post, Swift thanked Antonoff and expressed admiration for the film's characters, saying they "made us laugh and helped us learn lessons and think outside the backyard all throughout our childhoods."
Toy Story 5 introduces a new element, a tablet, into the home of the beloved characters Buzz, Woody, Jessie, and others, posing a fresh challenge for the gang.
