Richard Gere is expressing pride in his son Homer Gere's burgeoning acting career, following his appearance on the hit series Euphoria.
Homer Gere Impresses on 'Euphoria'
In an interview with People, the Pretty Woman star, now 76, shared his admiration for his 26-year-old son Homer's performance on two episodes of Euphoria, particularly his scene with Sydney Sweeney's character, Cassie Howard, in season three. Gere noted, "I’m proud of him on two levels. One, he’s really good. He really kind of preternaturally knows what he’s doing. But he’s also handling it really well. He’s a good kid. He’s a really good young man who kind of gets it, and this is not an easy job. Not everyone can function within it. So I think he can stay."
Upcoming Projects and Retiring the Torch
Richard Gere admitted he still needs to watch Homer's second episode of Euphoria, but highlighted his son's upcoming projects, which include a significant role in a new Ryan Murphy series and a film with Oliver Stone. Gere humorously added, "So I can retire now. I’m passing the torch."
Future Roles and Family Dynamics
Homer Gere's next role involves starring alongside Kaia Gerber, Igby Rigney, Graham Campbell, and Hayes Warner in The Shards, a series co-created by Bret Easton Ellis and Ryan Murphy. Meanwhile, Richard Gere, a former Hollywood heartthrob known for his 1980s role in American Gigolo, is set to return in season two of The Agency on June 21.
Gere also commented on Homer's future in acting, saying, "I don’t think he’s got to make a life choice to commit to this if he’s doing this now. He’s good at it and he’s having fun, but he can become a rock climber if he wants to do that."
