Overmono Announces New Album 'Pure Devotion'

Overmono, the Welsh electronic duo consisting of brothers Tom and Ed Russell, has announced their second album, Pure Devotion, set for release on August 7 under XL Recordings. The album follows their 2023 debut Good Lies.

Collaborations and Lead Single

The album features contributions from Ruthven, Kindora, Rock Floyd, and John Joseph Holt. To give fans a taste of what’s to come, Overmono has released the lead single, “Lockup.” The track is a reimagining of Birmingham post-punk group Fast Relief’s “What A Waste” as a four-on-the-floor club anthem.

Creative Process Explained

In a press statement, Overmono described their creative process for Pure Devotion as highlighting the physicality of studio work. They employed unconventional techniques, such as running tape over magnets and blowing up speakers. “We even oven-baked a cymbal covered in coffee grounds, crisps, and vinegar,” the duo shared.

Busy Years Since 'Good Lies'

Since Good Lies, Overmono has stayed active with a world tour, a Boiler Room set in Manchester, and a performance at Glastonbury Festival. In 2024, they released a remix of The Streets' “Turn the Page” and collaborated with Fred Again.. and Lil Yachty on the single “Stayinit.”
