Lucid Motors Exec Emad Dlala Exits Amid CEO Shakeup

Emad Dlala, a senior executive at Lucid Motors, has exited the electric vehicle company shortly after his promotion, as the company undergoes major leadership changes.

Leadership Changes at Lucid

Dlala's departure marks the first significant executive exit following the appointment of Silvio Napoli as Lucid Motors' new CEO in April. Napoli, who previously held leadership roles at Schindler Group, officially assumed his CEO duties last week.

Lucid Motors confirmed Dlala's exit in a statement, explaining that the company is "transforming its organization to accelerate innovation and strengthen execution under CEO Silvio Napoli." As part of the reorganization, Vivek Attaluri, VP of vehicle engineering, and Marc Solsona Palomar, VP of software, will now directly report to Napoli.

Dlala's Tenure and Departure

Dlala, who had been with Lucid Motors for over ten years, became one of the company's longest-serving executives. He served as both VP and SVP of the powertrain team over the past five years. In November, he was promoted to oversee "Engineering and Digital" after the departure of the company's chief engineer, Eric Bach.

Bach's exit led to a lawsuit against Lucid Motors for wrongful termination, which is currently paused pending arbitration. Dlala chose not to comment on his departure.

Lucid Motors' Strategic Moves

Lucid Motors has been going through a period of flux, having laid off 12% of its workforce in February. The search for a new CEO took a year following the sudden exit of Peter Rawlinson in early 2025. Dlala's departure comes just months before the launch of Lucid's first mass-market vehicle, the Cosmos, which is priced below $50,000.

This vehicle, built on a new mid-sized platform, aims to increase the Saudi-owned company's accessibility and market adoption. Additionally, the Cosmos is integral to Lucid’s agreement to supply robotaxis to Uber, alongside autonomous vehicle company Nuro. Lucid's Gravity SUV, which will feature self-driving capabilities, is expected to be operational in San Francisco by the end of the year.

Looking Ahead

Lucid Motors remains focused on streamlining its operations and processes to maximize the strengths of its team, with further actions to be communicated soon. The company's partnership with Nuro and Uber represents a significant step in its strategic direction, seeking to cement its position within the evolving EV market.
