Last Call for Australian Startups: Stripe x Battlefield

Australian startups have just 48 hours left to apply for a chance to compete in Stripe x Startup Battlefield in Sydney on August 19, where one winner will secure automatic entry into TechCrunch Disrupt in San Francisco.

Stripe x Startup Battlefield Overview

Startup Battlefield, TechCrunch’s flagship pitch event, has been a launchpad for notable companies like Dropbox, Cloudflare, Discord, and Trello. The alumni have collectively raised $32 billion and achieved over 250 exits across 1,700+ companies globally. The Stripe x Startup Battlefield brings this competition to Sydney, featuring eight Australian startups pitching live. Three will win prizes, and the grand winner will advance to TechCrunch Disrupt.

  • Grand Winner: $15,000 in Stripe fee credits and entry into Startup Battlefield 200 at TechCrunch Disrupt in San Francisco, October 13–15, 2026.
  • Second Place: $5,000 in Stripe fee credits.
  • Third Place: $2,000 in Stripe fee credits.

All applicants, regardless of selection, are invited to attend Stripe Tour Sydney on August 19.

Criteria for Selection

The selection process prioritizes the most promising startups rather than the most polished. The key question: Does the startup propose a genuine change? The competition does not require extensive press coverage or existing customers. A working MVP is necessary, but revenue and launch are not.

Past applications do not disqualify a startup. Many successful companies have applied multiple times before being selected.

Crafting a Strong Application

Applicants should showcase their MVP in action via video. Accurate competitor analysis and a compelling founding story are critical. A straightforward, honest application is preferred over a polished yet opaque submission.

Deadline Details

Applications close on Monday, July 20, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. AEST. There will be no extensions or waitlists. For undecided startups, applying now could lead to a stage in San Francisco in October. Apply now for free, with no equity demands, for the in-person event in Sydney on August 19.
