Amy Adams revealed on 'Late Night With Seth Meyers' that she turned down a graphic 'Saturday Night Live' sketch in 2008, proposed by Andy Samberg, to protect her young 'Enchanted' fans. The decision came after 'Enchanted' premiered just four months prior.

Protecting Her Image

During her appearance, Adams explained her reasoning, saying, 'I’ll give you the gist without telling you the punchline. It was this couple [and] he got bit by a spider in the park, and she’s like, ‘Honey, I love you so much, and now that you’re dying, is there any last wish?’ And he’s like, ‘Yes, I never got a chance to…’ And then said what could only be described as the most graphic thing that he wanted to do with me.'

Adams, known for her role in the family-friendly 'Enchanted,' felt it was crucial to maintain her image for her young audience. 'I was so keenly aware of all the young girls that were watching ‘Enchanted,’' she mentioned. 'And I didn’t want to be the princess singing about that particular act, you know?'

Samberg's Perspective

In 2024, Andy Samberg also recounted the incident on Meyers’ show, expressing admiration for Adams’ foresight and responsibility. 'Within five minutes, a mother and her little girl walked up and the look on the little girl’s face upon seeing Amy Adams, I was like, ‘Oh, she was so right,’' Samberg recalled. 'And it was very instructive for me. It’s not something I even ever thought about in our line of work, you know what I mean? Like, she actually has an obligation and a responsibility to those kids, and she took it really seriously. And I remember being really impressed by that.'

Commitment to Young Fans

Adams' decision underscores her commitment to her young fans, ensuring that her public image remains consistent with the family-friendly roles she portrays. Her choice not only highlights her awareness of her audience but also sets an example in the entertainment industry for maintaining a responsible public image.
