Royal Life at Forest Lodge: The Waleses' New Home

Prince William and Kate Middleton moved into Forest Lodge, their new 'forever home,' in November 2025, marking a fresh start after three years at Adelaide Cottage. During that time, the family faced the loss of Queen Elizabeth and health challenges, with both Kate and King Charles battling cancer.

Settling in Windsor

Located within the expansive 4,800 acres of Windsor Great Park, Forest Lodge offers the Wales family a stunning Georgian-style residence dating back to the 1750s. The brick facade features stucco pilasters, and from both fronts, the house boasts extensive views of the forest, the Great Park, Windsor Castle, and the town of Windsor. These views were noted by Jane Roberts in her 1997 book, Royal Landscape: The Gardens and Parks of Windsor.

Features and Amenities

The property, nearly double the size of Adelaide Cottage, includes eight bedrooms, a tennis court, a paddock, and a small lake. Inside, the home features both a sitting and drawing room with marble fireplaces, providing a luxurious setting for the royal family. Additionally, the garden, historically attributed to Humphry Repton, adds to the estate's grandeur, although its current existence remains unconfirmed.

A Royal Fit

Historically, Forest Lodge has been considered a fitting residence for high-profile royals. In the 1970s, it was rumored that Princess Anne might receive the house from the Queen. Later, in the 2000s, it was considered as a potential home for Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York. However, neither moved in, leaving the property available for the Wales family.

The children, Princes George and Louis, and Princess Charlotte, have continued their education at Lambrook School, with George set to attend Eton in September. The family appears to be comfortable and settled in their new home, anticipating happy teenage years for their children at Forest Lodge.

Public Glimpse

On June 17, the Waleses shared a rare glimpse into their home life through a photo posted on Instagram. The image, taken before a visit to Royal Ascot, shows the couple side-by-side on a stone terrace in front of double white doors. This brief look offers a rare insight into their otherwise private residence.

Forest Lodge represents a significant chapter for the Wales family, a place where they plan to create lasting memories. For Prince William and Kate Middleton, this is their 'forever home.'
