German startup Deep Care has launched Isa, a desk gadget designed to improve posture by tracking various health metrics without cameras or an internet connection.
Features and Design
Isa resembles a table clock with a 5.5-inch IPS HD screen and is powered via USB-C, consuming about 2.45W. Its standout feature is a Time-of-Flight (ToF) 3D depth sensor that monitors posture and movement. The device also includes sensors for light, sound, temperature, and more.
User Experience
Setting up Isa is simple, though it currently supports only EU and US time zones. The screen displays posture using a squircle ring that changes color based on sitting position, prompting users to adjust their posture. Isa vibrates if poor posture is detected, offering a gentle reminder to sit correctly.
Functionality and Privacy
Without cameras, Isa relies on sensors that can mistakenly log objects or pets as users. It offers movement reminders and exercise guidance. Despite its occasional tracking errors, Isa encourages users to maintain better posture and offers valuable exercise suggestions.
Market and Pricing
Initially sold to businesses, Isa is now available to consumers for €299 ($354), with subscription plans for additional features. Deep Care aims to expand into mental health monitoring, using posture and environmental data.
Isa presents a compelling option for home workers focused on improving desk habits, despite its cost and subscription model.
