Hovvdy is set to release their new album, Big World, on August 14 through Arts & Crafts. This marks the follow-up to their 2024 self-titled LP and reflects a streamlined songwriting approach, according to band member Charlie Martin.
New Sound and Approach
Charlie Martin commented, “The last record felt like such a generous offering: a double-album, deeply personal, you can literally hear me crying on some songs. With this one, we wanted to take on the challenge of making something more concise and to the point, and give the fans something that feels like a shorter but more exciting ride.”
The album's first single, “Try Try Try,” comes with a DIY video directed by Michael Rees, capturing the band's rehearsal setup.
Tour Plans
The release coincides with an extensive tour. Following their summer performances with Bleachers and Wilco, Hovvdy will headline their own dates across North America and Europe.
Production and Collaborations
The album was produced by longtime collaborator Ben Littlejohn, with sessions split between Nashville and Asheville. This collaboration continues the band's tradition of working closely with trusted partners to evolve their sound.
