Echo and the Bunnymen, the iconic English rock band, will release their first album in 12 years, titled Apples for Isaac, on September 18. This marks their return since 2014's Meteorites.
New Music and a Tribute
The album includes contributions from Clem Burke, the legendary drummer who sadly passed away during the album's completion. The band expressed their loss and gratitude in a statement: “The mighty, legendary Clem Burke—longtime friend of Mac—was integral to the making of the album and heartbreakingly passed away during its completion… love you Clem X.”
Ian McCulloch Speaks Out
In an interview with Mojo, Ian McCulloch, co-founder and lead singer of Echo and the Bunnymen, shared insights into the delay of the album. “What kept us? I think Covid had something to do with it,” McCulloch said. He added that he wanted the lyrics to be significant, stating, “more than any other record I can remember, it’s actually sounding how I heard it in my head.”
