Vin Diesel treated fans to a behind-the-scenes Instagram post on Thursday, showcasing 'Fast Forever', the 11th and final installment of 'The Fast and Furious' franchise, slated for a March 17, 2028 release.
On-Set Enthusiasm
"I’m on set. People are grinding. Incredible crews are working," Diesel stated in his post. He expressed gratitude to fans for their ongoing patience, noting, "You’ve been patient to the industry, you’ve been patient to the studio and you’ve been patient with me. Over the past three and a half years, we’ve been grinding to try to make the most amazing finale."
Other Projects
Diesel also mentioned his involvement in other projects during the wait for 'Fast Forever', including a nod to the 'Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots' movie, in which he will star and write for Mattel Studios.
"But through it all, one thing I know is, I can feel your support, and that means the world to me," Diesel added. "So, let me get back to this filming, and just know that I hope to make you all proud."
Franchise Success
Since its debut in 2001, the 'Fast and the Furious' series has generated over $7 billion at the box office, becoming Universal's highest-grossing and longest-running franchise. 'Furious 7' remains the top performer with $1.5 billion worldwide.
Expansion into Television
In May, Universal announced a 'Fast & Furious' TV series in development at Peacock, revealed by Diesel at NBCUniversal's upfront presentation. "For the last decade, we have realized that the fans have wanted more," Diesel said. "They wanted us to expand the legacy characters, their stories."
He highlighted the importance of waiting for the right moment to transition into TV, crediting Donna Langley's leadership for ensuring the integrity of the characters and the franchise's international appeal. Diesel announced, "Peacock is launching four shows from the ‘Fast and Furious’ universe."
