Maggie Baird, the environmental advocate and mother of artists Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell, organized a celebrity-filled pickleball event to address food insecurity issues.
Star-Studded Event
The event, hosted by Baird's nonprofit Support+Feed, took place at PIKL L.A. and featured its first Pickleball Invitational and Game Night Fundraiser. Celebrities including Angelina Jolie with her son Pax Jolie-Pitt, Kristen Bell, Dax Shepard, and Melanie C gathered to support the cause.
Urgency Amidst Past Disasters
“Our work in L.A. has taken on even greater urgency since the fires last year,” Baird told The Hollywood Reporter. The event highlighted community efforts to aid recovery from the 2025 wildfires.
Attendees enjoyed plant-based meals from Cena Vegan and Strong Roots, event sponsors alongside Live Nation and WME. The evening featured various games, including a pickleball tournament and casual games like UNO and ping-pong, plus a lounge for refreshments.
Support+Feed's Mission
Proceeds supported Support+Feed's initiatives, which include community meal programs, emergency relief, and educational projects. The organization, founded in 2020, focuses on sustainable food choices to fight climate change.
“Getting people to understand that what we eat matters,” Baird stated, emphasizing the impact of plant-based diets. She advocates for sustainability across the music industry, including on Billie Eilish’s tours.
Upcoming Projects
Baird collaborates with WETA for a new series, Climate Kitchen, airing in 2027, promoting lifestyle changes for sustainability.
Through these efforts, Baird continues to drive forward sustainable practices in both her personal and professional life, leveraging her influence to inspire change.
